Position tells part of the story
Say whether the door is closed, partly open or hanging unevenly. Mention a new noise or a visible obstruction only if you can observe it safely. Keep people and pets away from the area where the door could move.
Do not stand beneath a damaged door, pull apart tensioned components or keep cycling the opener to test it. This guide helps describe the request; it does not provide spring or cable repair instructions. The FAQ also distinguishes private garage doors from shared gates.
Keep controls and access separate
Explain whether a wall control or remote produces any response. If you already have the equipment details, keep them to hand. You do not need to open a cover or reach into the mechanism to find a label.
Mention any safe alternative entrance and whether a vehicle is inside. If the problem is instead a key in the ordinary door from the garage to the home, use the residential page so the right request is discussed.
Agree on a particular task
Provide the address, safe access arrangements and symptoms. Ask about current availability, suitability for the equipment and how an assessment or proposed repair is charged. An observation is a starting point rather than a definite diagnosis.
The pricing page helps you ask what is included before authorizing work. New installations, replacement doors and commercial overhead equipment are not automatically part of a private garage repair request.
